BRUSSELS, June 7 (Xinhua) -- A number of yoga federations, teachers and schools in Belgium are coming together to organize the second edition of International Yoga Day events across the country on June 19 and 21, the Indian Embassy here announced on Tuesday.

The biggest gathering will once again take place in Brussels' Bois de la Cambre park on June 19, which last year saw 5,000 people participate in a mass yoga session.

Commemorative T-shirts featuring the famous blue Belgian smurfs will be sold to raise funds for UNICEF programs in India and around the world.

In addition, special yoga sessions will be held at the European Parliament, led by Art of Living Foundation creator Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and at the European Commission on June 21.

Sizable events will also take place in Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Radhadesh Ardennes, and for the first time, in Liege.

"These events marking International Yoga Day are a manifestation of our strong will and undeterred unity to combat the global evil forces through the message of love and, above all, serenity contained in yoga," Manjeev Singh Puri, Ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and European Union, said at a press conference announcing the celebrations.

June 21 was designated the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2014. The resolution was piloted by India and co-sponsored by a record of 177 member states of the UN, including China and Belgium. Enditem
