WINDHOEK, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The bilateral relations between Namibia and India are expected to strengthen as the two countries anticipate the official launch of the India Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (INCCI) early January 2017.

Pooven Moodley, Executive Director for the INCCI, confirmed to Xinhua on Friday of the intended launch, and said that the Chamber will allow for the synchronization of the two countries' operations and logistics system.

A Trade Delegation from India will visit Namibia during November and Moodley said that this idea was aggressively motivated and promoted by the Indian High Commissioner to Namibia, Kumar Tuhin.

Moodley said the INCCI will temporarily be stationed at the Indian High Commission in Namibia and will then continue to promote branch offices in the regions.

According to Moodley, the INCCI concept embodies harmonization of trade, the facilitation of business and tourism and was created to foster links between India and Namibia.

"We would like to twin the city of Walvis Bay and Mumbai, allowing the two Ports to become sister ports for the future and we will request the Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) to assist these two ports to reach their full potential." he added.

Furthermore, he said that there are unique opportunities within the Trans-shipment Industry, including Dry Ports since Walvis Bay is the ideal hub for this activity to and from South America, India and West Africa.

According to Moodley, the Chamber will also seek to promote an alliance between Air Namibia and Air India with preferential rates for cargo and passenger traffic.
