NANNING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Four people have been trapped after an expressway tunnel in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was hit by a mud-rush disaster, local authorities said Sunday.
The inrush happened around 3 p.m. Saturday in a tunnel which was under construction on an expressway linking the cities of Hechi and Baise. Five workers were cleaning the tunnel and maintaining the equipment at the site. One person managed to escape while four were trapped.
More than 90 meters of the tunnel was filled by 10,000 cubic meters of mud. The rescue is underway.
