VIENTIANE, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith on behalf of Lao Prime Minister here on Thursday conferred Chinese Ambassador to Laos Guan Huabing a Friendship Medal following an order of the Lao president.
Speaking at the ceremony, Fongsamouth Anlavanh, director general of the ministry's Asia-Pacific and Africa Department introduced Guan's outstanding achievements during his tenure in Laos.
Since June 2013, the Chinese ambassador has actively promoted the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two parties, states and peoples.
He has contributed in the organization of the 55th anniversary of China-Laos diplomatic ties, supported Laos in holding ASEAN rotating chairmanship, promoted economic cooperation between China and Laos, among others, she said.
Based on that, Lao president signed a Presidential Order to award Friendship Medal to Guan to appreciate his contribution during the tenure in Laos.
The Chinese ambassador, for his part, said the medal not only reflects the friendship of Lao people to China, but also a confirmation of the work of the Chinese embassy in Laos.
Guan said he will treasure the good memories in Laos, continue follow information about Laos and make efforts to further promote China-Laos relations.
