DHAKA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- An International Tourism Conference began here on Tuesday at Bangladesh's top Dhaka University to develop sustainable tourism and minimize the impacts of mass tourism.
The first ever international academic conference on tourism in Bangladesh was organized by Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Department of the university.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said the advent of information technology will bring a drastic change in the structural composition of tourism industry and the future of tourism has an immense versatile prospect even beyond the territory of the surface area to the space tourism.
"I hope that this conference will go far beyond the four walls."
Professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the Dhaka University Rashidul Hasan had earlier said a total of 35 foreign delegates will participate in the three-day conference.
