She lives in the town of La Colonia, five hours' bus trip away from San Jose. During her treatment she stays at an institution's shelter from Monday to Friday, and sees her family on weekends. The National Solidarity Foundation Against Breast Cancer (FUNDESO) has more than 30 years of work in the prevention, early detection and rehabilitation for patients in breast cancer. The FUNDESO provides free lodging and meals to patients who live far away from San Jose while receiving their chemotherapy or radiation treatments. The World Cancer Day falls on Feb. 4.
