MELBOURNE, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Australia's Melbourne Victory beat Italian champions Juventus 4-3 on penalties in the International Champions Cup opener here on Saturday.
Spanish defender Carlos Moreno lifted Juventus to 1-0 lead in 58th minute. But Jai Ingham equalized for Victory seven minutes later. The game went to a penalty shootout with a 1-1 draw at full-time.
Victory missed the first attempt in the shootout but their goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas denied the attempts from Juventus' Roman Macek and Stefano Padovan to make the score 5-4.
Juventus will play England's Tottenham Hotspur in Melbourne next Tuesday and Spain's Atletico Madrid will face Spurs in the final game of the tournament next Friday. Enditem
