MOGADISHU, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Chairperson of African Union Commission (AUC) Moussa Faki on Saturday arrived in the Somali capital of Mogadishu where he met senior government officials to discuss security and drought.
During his closed-door meeting with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, Faki reaffirmed the commitment of the continental bloc to restore peace, stability and development in the horn of Africa state.
Local media reported that Faki discussed the humanitarian crises unfolding in Somalia due to drought with Somali president and other senior government officials.
The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has been involved in efforts to pacify Somalia amid clan-based skirmishes and terrorism that have wreaked havoc in the country.
