LUSAKA, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government on Tuesday directed all public and private schools to ensure that the singing of the national anthem become compulsory as a way of fostering unity.
Chief Government Spokesperson Kampamba Mulenga said all the three stanzas in the national anthem should be sang, adding that the directive was aimed at fostering oneness and instilling in schools the spirit of patriotism to the country, according to a statement released on Tuesday.
The Zambian government has also directed all public institutions, including both public and private schools, to visibly display the portrait of President Edgar Lungu and the national flag.
