ANKARA, April 27 (Xinhua) -- More than 9,100 Turkish police officers were suspended late on Wednesday over their alleged links to the Gulenist Group, state-run Anadlu Agency reported Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, more than 1,000 suspected Gulenists in the police force were detained in national raids across Turkey, according to the Interior Ministry.

The operations were carried out as part of a probe led by chief public prosecutor's office in Ankara.

The U.S.-based Fethullah Gulen is accused by the Turkish government of masterminding the July 2016 coup attempt, which left 249 people killed and nearly 2,200 injured.
