Think of Ronaldo Nazario and the chances are you will also think of Paulo Swerts, if you are in China. Or at least of the Ronaldo Academy.
As China gets determined to develop its soccer, Swerts, a 32-year-old Brazilian entrepreneur living in China for eight years, has brought the Ronaldo Academy to China to nurture the dream.
Ronaldo himself inaugurated the first soccer school of the academy in Beijing in 2015. More are planned in Shanghai and Mianyang City in Sichuan Province.
Swerts says the project is to develop children’s personalities through soccer.
“Being able to bring this project and work with small kids in the education area -- this is a dream for everybody,” he said.
