RAMALLAH, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat said on Wednesday that the Palestinian leadership will resort to the UN to "punish" Guatemala for its decision to move embassy to Jerusalem.

Erekat told official Palestinian radio station Voice of Palestine that Guatemala's decision is in breach of international law, the UN charter and the 12 UN Security Council resolutions related to Jerusalem.

The 1980 Arab League summit resolutions call for boycotts against any country that recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital or move its embassy to the city.

Last week, 128 states members of the UN voted in favor of a resolution that rejected any changes to the status of Jerusalem, targeting Trump's recent declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
