ANKARA, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- A total of five Turkish civilians were killed by cross-border rockets fired from Syria since the beginning of the Turkey-led "Operation Olive Branch" in Syria, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Friday.
Over the last 12 days, the People's Protection Units (YPG) fired 82 rockets into the Turkish border provinces of Hatay and Kilis, Binali Yildirim said during a ground-breaking ceremony in the capital Ankara.
"Due to these rockets, five of our citizens have lost their lives and over 100 others injured," he said.
"We have destroyed their tunnels and positions in the operation, and we will destroy them all," he said referring to Syrian Kurdish militia.
Some 800 members of Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), People's Protection Units (YPG) and Islamic State (IS) had been killed in Turkey's operation in Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday.
On Jan. 20, Turkish military launched the cross-border land operation to fight the Syrian Kurdish militia, targeting the YPG elements in the Kurdish enclave with Free Syrian Army fighters through airstrikes and land forces.
