SKOPJE, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Macedonia is ready to accept a name with a geographic definition, Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said late Tuesday, noting that the name issue was deemed highly important and talks between Macedonia and Greece needed a chance.

"Any idea that can lead to a solution, be it a draft of an international agreement that would confirm the aspects that are more or less resolved, such as symbols MK, MKD etc., will be the foundation for the continuation of the process under the aegis of the UN through mediator Matthew Nimetz," Zaev told reporters here at a joint press conference with EU Ambassador Samuel Zbogar.

Zaev said he wanted citizens and the people of Macedonia and Greece to be fully informed about every next significant step during the negotiations while he wished to see success in this process.

"That is why we should use caution, in order to give the process a chance for success. In this context, I can say that we are prepared for a geographic qualifier, but will stop there, because this is a crucial issue and give a chance to the talks to reach a solution," Zaev said.

PM also informed the public that Macedonia's council of ministers approved at Tuesday meeting the change of the national airport's name from "Alexander the Great" into "National Airport of Skopje."

Also, the name of Macedonia-Greece highway was changed from "National Highway, Alexander the Macedonian" into "Friendship National Highway."

Zaev said such decisions once again affirmed the steps aimed at building friendship and confidence with Greece.
