HANOI, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam will slash the number of those on the state payroll by 4,463, or 1.6 percent, at all levels this year, Vietnam News Agency reported on Friday.
According to the recent prime ministerial decision, the total number of state payroll this year will be 263,621, down from last year of over 268,000.
The number of public employees will be 262,935, including those working for state agencies from central to district levels and overseas representative offices. The Ministry of Finance comes top with over 70,000 officers, tailed by the Ministry of Justice with over 10,000.
Meanwhile, the number of state employees working at associations will be kept unchanged at 686.
In 2017, Vietnam cut some 3,800 jobs from its state payroll while announcing a target of reducing at least 250,000 personnel working at state agencies by 2021 compared to 2015's figure.
