ISLAMABAD, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa has confirmed death sentences awarded to seven hardcore terrorists for their involvement in heinous offences related to terrorism, the military said.

An army statement on Friday said the convicts were involved in killing of innocent civilians, attacking Law Enforcement Agencies and Armed Forces of Pakistan.

"On the whole, they were involved in killing of 85 persons and injuring 109 others," a statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.

Arms and explosives were also recovered from the possession of the terrorists, who were members of proscribed organizations.

These convicts, who admitted their offences before the Magistrate and the trial court, were tried by military courts.

Besides death penalty, five convicts were awarded imprisonment of various duration, the statement said.

The army courts were set up after the terrorist attack on an army school in December 2014 for the speedy trial of the terrorism-related accused.
