KABUL, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Counter-Narcotics police have arrested 14 drug smugglers from different provinces of the war-battered country over the past one week, said a statement of Counter-Narcotics Justice Center here on Wednesday.
According to the statement, more than one ton illicit drug including more than 21 kg heroin and 200 kg hashish have been recovered from possessions of the arrested smugglers and their cases are under investigation.
The government has intensified the war against drug smugglers and has also sentenced eight people on charge of drug smuggling from six months to two years imprisonment over the period, the statement added.
