PHNOM PENH, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's largest online media outlet Fresh News launched a Chinese version of its website on Monday after it has successfully run Khmer and English languages, its publisher said.

Lim Cheavutha, founder and publisher of Fresh News, said the Chinese-language site - http://cn.freshnewsasia.com was aimed at expanding the small news market in Cambodia to a broader range of countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China and the world beyond.

"The Chinese version of Fresh News will share information about the activities that the Cambodian government has been doing for the people and the economy of Cambodia to Chinese people living around the world, as well as to China," he told Xinhua.

He said the launching of the Chinese version was also to serve Chinese investors and tourists, who wanted to keep up with the political situation and economic development in Cambodia.

"With the Chinese version, both Chinese investors and tourists will get fast and reliable information about Cambodia, especially in politics, economics, trade, investment and tourism," Cheavutha said.

The decision to launch the Chinese version came after the website's Khmer and English versions have attracted a lot of readers, he said, adding that the Khmer version has provided news to about one million people via smartphone devices.
