TOKYO, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply higher Monday following Wall Street's solid lead late last week with a weak yen versus the U.S. dollar adding to positive sentiment and lifting exporter issues.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 309.11 points, or 1.41 percent, from Friday to 22,201.89.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 16.88 points, or 0.96 percent, at 1,777.41.

All industry categories on the main section advanced, with precision instrument, pharmaceutical and mining-linked issues comprising those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
