DHAKA, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been put on high alert along Bangladesh-Myanmar border as Myanmar deployed additional forces with heavy arms.
Additional Director General (operation and training) of BGB Brigadier General Mujibur Rahman told journalists at a press conference in Dhaka on Thursday: "We're on high alert and overseeing the situation."
He said, "We've come to know through our intelligence and ground surveillance that Myanmar has deployed additional forces with heavy arms and ammunition on their side of the border, violating the border norms."
BGB has already sent a protest note to the Myanmar border force -- BGP and asked it for holding a border-level flag meeting.
