TIRANA, March 1 (Xinhua) -- All Albania's state structures and civil emergency response teams are working to normalize situation here after the country has gripped with a cold snap in recent days, Albania's Civil Emergency Department informed Thursday.
The heavy snowfalls have caused difficulties in several parts of Albania over the past few days given that many villages were blocked, several schools were closed and traffic was interrupted in several roads.
Response teams as well as army personnel have been deployed across Albania to help clean the roads from snow and ice as well as help residents in remote areas trapped by snow.
In a post on social networks Thursday, Prime Minister Edi Rama thanked all state workers and emergency response teams engaged in continued efforts to cope with the severe winter conditions across the country.
Power distributor operator electricians are working to repair power lines for defects due to low temperatures and heavy snowfall across the country.
