CHICAGO, March 1 (Xinhua) -- A high school string ensemble from Wisconsin, a midwestern U.S. state, was invited to perform with other groups in China's top theatres like the National Library Concert Hall in Beijing, and the Shanghai Symphony Hall, according to the school's new release on Thursday.

The string ensemble "Touch of Class" from Neenah high school will perform as part of "League of Astonishing Strings," which recruits diverse talents from around the world, including three ensembles from Canada which were also going for the China performance tour.

All members in "Touch of Class" are students aged from 14 to 18. They are some of the finest string players from the Neenah High School Orchestra programs. Their performance mixes warm classical playing with the energy of Celtic reels. They also introduce a little bit of jazz and rock and roll for a lively and inspiring musical performance experience.

The China performance tour by Neenah's "Touch of Class" also resembled a growing trend of cultural exchanges between U.S. Midwest and China.

Just a few days ago, a feast of Chinese cultural performances, including Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra, Jiangxi Troupe and Guangdong Troupe, came to the Midwestern states of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan for the performances.
