KIEV, March 5 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian government and rebels on Monday accused each other of breaching a new cease-fire that came into force earlier in the day in the country's eastern region of Donbas.
The Ukrainian army said in a statement posted on Facebook that pro-independence rebels attacked them two times with mortars.
Meanwhile, the rebel-run DAN news agency, citing the insurgent operation command, said that the army fired gun shots to the rebel-controlled areas.
There were no reports about the casualties in Donbas since the new truce started.
On March 2, the Trilateral Contact Group that comprises representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe reached an agreement on a fresh truce starting from March 5.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine broke out in April 2014 between government and separatist forces, which has left more than 10,000 people killed. There have been dozens of cease-fires after the conflict erupted.
