SKOPJE, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Micro enterprises with less than ten employees dominated Macedonian business sector, with their number accounting for 90.3 percent of the total, the State Statistical Office said Friday.
Engaging 32.6 percent of the total number of employees, these micro enterprises created 21.2 percent of the value added in the business sector, data showed.
On the other hand, the large companies engaged 24.6 percent of the total number of employed people and generated 35.3 percent of the total value added, according to the statistical office.
Almost half of the micro enterprises were in the trade sector while large companies operate mostly in the manufacturing sector.
According to the State Statistical Office, in 2016, business entities within the structural business statistics generated 4.3 percent more turnover and 7.8 percent more value added than in the previous year.
