TIRANA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of citizens across Albania Wednesday celebrated the Summer Day, which falls on every March 14.
In central Albania's Elbasan in particular, celebration of the day, which seen as the beginning of spring, is an old tradition.
A big concert was held in Elbasan's main square and attracted many citizens.
Elbasan and the capital city Tirana have prepared many activities, such as bicycle race, carnival parade of elementary schools and traditional handicrafts and foods fair.
The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj planted some saplings in Tirana outskirts and at the Artificial Lake Park to wish a happy summer day to all citizens.
During the day, people also exchange visits to each other home and send candies.
