JAKARTA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia government has summoned Saudi Arabian ambassador and conveyed its regret over the recent death penalty execution against an Indonesian worker without official notice to the authorities, an Indonesia official said here on Monday.

"As two nations have excellent relations, Saudi Arabian government should properly send the execution notice," Indonesian National Protection and Legal Assistance Director at Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry Lalu Muhammad Iqbal said.

He added that Indonesian government has yet to receive any notification regarding the execution prior to the event.

According to Iqbal, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia governments in 2015 had reached an understanding about official notification related to Indonesian workers working in Saudi Arabia who embroiled in legal cases as well as execution of death penalty prior to the event.

Iqbal said that Indonesian government has received further explanations related to the execution of the Indonesian worker from the Saudi Arabia ambassador, including Saudi Arabia's policy which recognizes no requirement to send any notice to government of the convict's origin nation related to execution.

Indonesian migrant worker Zaini Misrin was executed to death in Saudi Arabia's city of Mecca on Sunday for murder case charged against him.

The Indonesian worker originated from East Java province was accused of committed murder against his employer. He was arrested by Saudi Arabian police in July 2004.
