SAN FRANCISCO, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Airlines announced Monday that it has completed a landmark flight from Hong Kong in southern China to San Francisco to expand its network in north America.

The airlines said in a statement that its A350 flight HX061 that has left San Francisco is expected to arrive in Hong Kong Monday evening, unveiling a four-time weekly service between Hong Kong and San Francisco, the company's third destination in north America, following the launch of services to Vancouver in Canada and western U.S. Los Angeles in 2017.

"We are thrilled to launch our new service between Hong Kong and San Francisco, connecting two great cities with a non-stop direct flight," said George Liu, chief marketing officer of Hong Kong Airlines, a member of the Chinese conglomerate HNA Group.

While Hong Kong Airlines is relatively new to the north American market, it deploys Airbus A350, one of the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world, for its flight to San Francisco to deliver "an exceptional inflight service" to its customers, Liu said.

"We are honored that Hong Kong Airlines has made our airport an important part of their growth strategy," San Francisco International Airport Director Ivar C. Satero said.

Hong Kong Airlines said it has cooperated with American celebrity chef and television personality Chris Cosentino to bring his flair for innovative cuisine to its valued customers traveling on the non-stop Hong Kong-San Francisco flight.

Established in 2006, the Hong Kong-based airlines flies to nearly 40 destinations across Asia Pacific and north America with a combined fleet of 35 aircraft.
