Xinhua Headlines: Truth behind China-U.S. trade "imbalances"

Representatives from China and the United States attend the signing ceremony in Des Moines, Iowa, the United States, July 13, 2017. Some 20-odd Chinese and U.S. enterprises signed agricultural transaction contracts worth 5.012 billion U.S. dollars, under which Chinese enterprises will import 12.53 million tons of soybean and 371 tons of pork and beef from U.S. companies. A "huge" trade deficit with China is reportedly behind the U.S. administration's plan to slap tariffs on up to 60 billion U.S. dollars of Chinese imports and restrict Chinese investment. But data sometimes lies, and could shield the bigger picture. (Xinhua/Miao Zhuang)
