MADRID, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Easter holiday period ended with 27 deaths on Spanish roads, the country's General Direction of Traffic confirmed on Tuesday.
The number of deaths for the holiday period, which began on March 23, is the same as the 2017 Easter period.
On Monday, a truck transporting five circus elephants overturned on the A30 highway in the province of Albacete in central Spain, where one of the elephants was killed in the accident, while at least two were injured.
The accident led to animal rights groups in Spain to call for banning of animals in circuses.
