TOKYO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday following Wall Street's solid lead overnight amid hopes current international trade frictions may be resolved through negotiations.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 253.13 points, or 1.19 percent, from Wednesday to 21,572.68.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, was up 13.54 points, or 0.79 percent, at 1,719.67.
Precision instrument, pharmaceutical and real estate issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
