Pakistan's petroleum output grows 10.26 pct during 8 months in FY 2017-18

ISLAMABAD, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's production of petroleum products grew 10.26 percent during the first eight months of the fiscal year of 2017-18 which began on July 1, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Friday.

The bureau, which is Pakistan's premier government institution to release the official economic data, said the petroleum products which contributed to the positive growth included motor spirits which rose 15.60 percent during the eight-month duration.

According to the official data, the South Asian country's production of high-speed diesel surged 11.09 percent, diesel oil 27.34 percent, and furnace oil increased 5.01 percent year-on-year during the period under review.

Moreover, the output of Jute batching oil jacked up 17.02 percent, Solvent Naptha 8.48 percent, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas 39.49 percent during the same period.

On the other hand, the petroleum products which posted negative growth during the eight-month period, included jet fuel with 1.78-percent decline, kerosene oil with 13.60-percent fall, and lubricating oil with 16.41-percent decrease.

During the month of February 2018, the South Asian country's production of petroleum products increased 16.28 percent as against the same month of the last year.
