TOKYO, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended moderately higher on Friday morning as the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar encouraged buying and supported exporter issues.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 30.95 points, or 0.14 percent, from Thursday to 22,222.13.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 4.26 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,754.44.
Marine transportation and insurance issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
