5.2-magnitude quake hits Myanmar's southern region

YANGON, April 21 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted Myanmar's Bago region early Saturday.

According to the Meteorology and Hydrology Department, the quake, with an epicenter of 40 km southwest of Phyu city, struck at 04:58:42 local time.

The Phyu city had been hit by a 4.8-magnitude earthquake on Friday morning.

"These earthquakes must be aftershocks of a 6.0-magnitude one which hit the city in January this year," an official from the department told Xinhua.

No damage has been reported.

So far this month, there have been several slight magnitude earthquakes, including those in Phyu, Bago region, Yangon region, Pyapon, Ayeyarwaddy region and Sagaing region.
