Polish-Chinese Friendship Association celebrates 60th anniversary

WARSAW, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The Polish-Chinese Friendship Association celebrated its 60th anniversary on Tuesday in Warsaw.

The celebrations brought together many people contributing to the constant development of friendly relations between the two countries.

In his address, the Chinese Ambassador to Poland Liu Guangyuan highly appreciated the efforts made by the association in recent years to build mutual exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and promote the development of friendly bilateral relations.

"In the past 60 years, the Friendship Association has continued to devote itself to develop friendship between the peoples of the two countries...It has built a bridge between the two nations," said the ambassador.

Marek Suski, Head of the Polish Prime Minister's Political Cabinet, emphasized that Poland attached great attention to Polish-Chinese relations and reminded that they have been lifted to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Suski expressed hope that the Association might be a platform for further development of these relations.

Within the years of 2013-2018, the association has received many delegations from China and launched joint projects with Chinese-European Partnership for Development (CEPD) Warsaw-Beijing Forum.

The association also launched the Chinese language course in cooperation with Department of Asian Studies at SWPS Warsaw University and commenced cooperation with Tianjin International Chinese College in the field of language education.

Agnieszka Wu-Skawinska, current Chairman of the association informed that such activities will be continued to enhance bilateral cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as within the 16+1 cooperation mechanism.

The 60th anniversary celebrations were highlighted by the performance of distinguished Polish and Chinese musicians.

Polish-Chinese Friendship Association was established in 1956 and belongs to the oldest organizations of this kind operating in Poland. It is dedicated to promote cooperation and mutual understanding between Poland and China, focusing on the development of friendly relations between two countries. Currently, it has nine local branches around the country.
