HANOI, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The Vietnamese government has agreed with the proposal of the Finance Ministry to exempt Cathay Pacific Airways from China's Hong Kong, Federal Express Corporation from the United States and Japan Airlines from import tax, Vietnam News Agency reported on Monday.
The Vietnamese customs forces have been instructed to supervise and closely control the import and use of duty-free goods of the three airlines to ensure that they are used for the right purposes and are consistent with the law.
The import and use of duty-free goods by Cathay Pacific Airways must be for the right purposes as described in Article 8 of the Agreement on Air Transport, signed by the Vietnamese government and China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 1999.
