ALGIERS, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Wednesday condemned a deadly bombing attack on the headquarters of an elections commission in the Libyan capital Tripoli, official APS news agency reported.
"Algeria strongly condemns the terrorist attack that targeted the headquarters of the National Electoral Commission in Tripoli, and offers sincere condolences to the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord and the families of the victims of this barbaric aggression," said Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Abdelaziz Benali Cherif.
He also called for a UN-backed political resolution to the six-year civil war in Libya, to preserve its unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty and national cohesion.
The attack "will not affect the determination of Libyans to move forward on the path of dialogue and national reconciliation," the Algerian spokesman added.
Earlier in the day, the Islamic State (IS) militant group carried out a suicide attack on the headquarters of Libya's Higher Commission of Elections, killing at least 14 and injuring more than 10 others.
