ISTANBUL, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Turkish prosecutors on Thursday issued detention warrants for 96 people, including suspended soldiers, over their alleged links to a group believed to be behind a coup bid in 2016, local media reported.

According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, police launched simultaneous operations in 15 provinces across the country to catch the suspects.

Ninety-one of the suspects were reportedly suspended soldiers who served in the Turkish Air Forces Command.

The operations were conducted in line with an investigation launched by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in the western province of Izmir, Anadolu said.

The Turkish government blames the network led by the U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen for the coup attempt in July 2016, in which 250 people were killed.
