CANNES, France, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The eighth edition of the Chinese Cinema Festival in France (FCCF) will open its doors to French audience by the end of this month with nine new Chinese movies set to be screened in seven French cities to promote China's current best cinema production, the festival's organizers said on Friday.
From May 28 to July 10, French cinephiles will be able to discover nine new films produced and released in China between April 2017 and January 2018 in all genres.
At a press conference held in Cannes, Yan Zhenquan, director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris and the festival's co-chair, unveiled the selection of movies that includes the most successful ones in China such as "Wolf Warrior 2" with a box office of nearly 900 million U.S. dollars.
"Forever Young" will open the FCCF during which "Battle of Memories","Seventy-Seven Days" "Chasing The Dragon," "The Ex-File: the Return of the Exes" and "Our Shining Days" and others are scheduled to be screened in Paris and several French cities including Cannes, Marseille, Lyon, Reunion, Strasbourg.
"It is a pride to host the festival in France's theaters , and we continue to attract more public each year," said Jerome Seydoux, president of the Pathe Group and co-president of the FCCF.
"For this new edition, the festival will highlight the diversity of contemporary production in China and presents several popular hits. It would be nice if major hits in China become successful in France," he added.
As guests of honor at the festival, Chinese actor Liu Ye and French actress Virginie Ledoyen will be present at the opening ceremony, alongside the festival's ambassador Costa Gavras, also president of French cinema institute.
