Tokyo stocks advance in morning on Wall Street's rebound, weaker yen

TOKYO, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning as investor sentiment was lifted by Wall Street's overnight rebound and a softer yen lifting exporter issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 100.65 points, or 0.44 percent, from Wednesday to 22,817.88.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 5.94 points, or 0.33 percent, to 1,806.29.

Glass and ceramics product, textile and apparel, and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
