Singapore regrets cancellation of Trump-Kim summit

SINGAPORE, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Singapore regrets the cancellation of the planned Trump-Kim summit, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said here late on Thursday in response to media queries.

"Singapore regrets that the scheduled summit between President of the United States Donald J. Trump and Democratic People's Republic of Korea State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un will no longer take place on June 12, 2018," the MFA spokesperson said.

Singapore hopes that the dialogue and efforts to find lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula will continue, the spokesperson added.

Trump on Thursday sent a letter to the DPRK top leader Kim Jong UN to cancel their planned meeting in Singapore, which was scheduled for June 12.
