SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, May 25 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and eight others injured Friday after a vehicle carrying them hit a parapet along the road in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.
The accident took place on the Jammu-Pathankot highway in Samba district, 38 km south of Jammu city, the winter capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
"A bus travelling from Jammu to Punjab went out of the driver's control and hit a road parapet during the early hours here today," a police spokesman said. "Five people including three women and a one-year-old child were killed and eight others injured in the accident."
Police said the victims were hailing from Gurdaspur district of neighboring Punjab state.
