KABUL, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan law enforcement agencies arrested 24 drug traffickers following operations over the last 72 hours, a statement from the Counter-Drugs Office of the Ministry of Interior said Saturday.
The Counter-Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (CNPA), together with detective Afghan security organization, launched the operations across the country, the statement read.
Seven of the traffickers were arrested at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, where they swallowed a quantity of heroin and wanted to transfer them abroad, said the statement.
According to the source, 9,354 kilograms of various types of drugs were seized during the operations.
