LONDON, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Britain on Sunday marked the one year anniversary of the deadly London Bridge terrorist attack as the country's prime minister vowed to fight terrorism.

A service remembering the victims will be held at Southwark Cathedral and a national minute's silence to commemorate the victims will also be observed.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said Britain's determination to overcome the threat of terrorism "has never been stronger."

"Today we remember those who died in the London Bridge attack and the many more who were injured, as we pay tribute to the bravery of our emergency services and those who intervened and came to the aid of others," May said on her official Twitter account.

Eight people died when three men drove into pedestrians on London Bridge and then stabbed people in Borough Market.

The observation came as the Home Office has said the country faces a severe threat from Islamist terrorism for at least another two years.

The government is preparing to unveil a strengthened counter-terrorism strategy on Monday.
