ISLAMABAD, June 4 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were killed and several others injured after a passenger van fell into a 25-feet deep ravine in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, local reports said.
The accident happened in Mir Pur district of the Kashmir valley on Sunday when the van was taking some 20 passengers to the neighboring Bhimber district, Samaa News said.
Eye witnesses said the incident took place when the van's driver, who sustained injuries in the accident, lost control over the vehicle while taking a sharp turn, according to the report.
The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital, but their conditions are not known yet.
Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan, mainly due to poorly maintained vehicles, dilapidated roads and negligence of road safety measures. Traffic police officials say most of the accidents happen due to human error.
