TUNIS, June 20 (Xinhua) -- On World Refugee Day, the representative of UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Tunisia Mazin Abu Shanab expressed his appreciation for Tunisia's efforts to protect refugees and respect their rights.
He made the remarks during his meeting with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi Wednesday in Tunis, capital of Tunisia.
According to Tunisian Government Presidency, the meeting focused on the import steps taken by Tunisia in partnership with UNHCR, in order to complete the legal framework regulating refugees' situation.
Essebsi also reiterated Tunisia's commitment to respecting human rights as well as relevant international conventions. Tunisia supported UNHCR's efforts around the world to protect refugees and help them improve precarious living conditions.
