TBILISI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Georgia's parliament on Wednesday voted to approve a new cabinet led by Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.

At an extraordinary session in Kutaisi, the lawmakers of the parliament voted in confidence of the new Prime Minister and cabinet with 99 votes in favor and 6 votes against.

"In the foreign policy, we will be consistent on the path of a full integration into the European Union and will use all existing mechanisms of cooperation to ensure more systematic and transparent European integration process," said Prime Minister-designate Mamuka Bakhtadze in his speech to elaborate his policies before the voting.

He also vowed to conduct all-round reforms and introduce new approaches in fighting against corruption to ensure an effective government.

"All the reforms we will implement, including economic, structural, educational or social ones, serve the only purpose - to achieve dignified living conditions of each citizen consistently and rapidly," said Mamuka Bakhtadze, stressing that Georgia will be built into a democratic, economically powerful and modern country.

There are three new ministers in the approved cabinet consisting of 14 ministers, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Cherkezishvili and Minister of Finance Nikoloz Gagua.

On Wednesday, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili announced his resignation. Georgia's ruling party on Thursday named former Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze as the candidate for prime minister.

Mamuka Bakhtadze has served as finance minister from November 2017. Before that, he was the director general of the Georgian Railway from April 2013.
