MOGADISHU, July 3 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and seven others injured when a roadside landmine went off in Mogadishu's Hodan district on Monday evening, the police confirmed on Tuesday.
Police officer Hussein Mohamed told Xinhua the bomb exploded near Banadir junction, killing one civilian.
"We got information that one civilian died and seven others were injured," the police officer said, adding they have launched investigations on the incident. Witnesses reported the blast and said it was huge.
"We heard the blast at Cinema Nasri near Banadir Junction, we were told that many people were injured in the explosion," said a resident Abdullahi Dahir.
Abdikadir Abdirrahman, director of Amin Ambulances, told Xinhua that they have transported seven injured people to the hospital.
No one has claimed responsibility for the latest attack. Terror group al-Shabab have conducted similar attacks in the past.
