DAR ES SALAAM, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The government of Tanzania on Tuesday launched a business plan aimed at setting the stage for amending laws and regulations to improve the business environment.
The Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Charles Mwijage, launched the plan saying the new initiative will identify and provide long and short term solutions to specific challenges faced by private companies or investors.
"The new plan will consist business experts and officials from public institutions and authorities related to business operations," said Mwijage when launching the plan at the ongoing Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam.
The minister added: "The experts will teach people best ways of doing business as well as policies and regulations guiding them."
He said he was optimistic that the plan will be well executed for the benefit of the business community and policy regulators for to help the east African nation, the second largest economy in East Africa after Kenya, attain its middle income status by 2025.
At the same time, Mwijage outlined three types of manufacturing industries that the government was currently developing.
"We are currently focusing on industries that will consume raw materials which are locally produced. This is to stimulate production and value addition," said the senior official.
He added that the government was also giving priority to industries that created more jobs.
"The government embraces these kinds of industries to create inclusive economy to people making sure that the dream of becoming a middle income country is realized," said Mwijage.
