DAR ES SALAAM, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Wednesday launched a business guideline directing local government authorities to facilitate creation of industries in their jurisdictions across the nation.
Majaliwa said the business guideline highlighted potential areas for attracting investors and directed village and regional leaders to prepare workshops to educate the public on the industrialization drive.
"The guideline will also highlight what an industry is and how they range from small, medium to large," said Majaliwa at the opening of the 42nd Dar es Salaam International Tread Fair (DIFT).
"We encourage the public to start focusing on the industrialization drive by producing quality products that meet both local and international standards," said Majaliwa.
Majaliwa urged local exhibitors at the DITF to showcase professionalism and quality products especially at this time when the government was pushing for an industrial economy.
Meanwhile, the prime minister encouraged the local business community to participate in the ongoing DITF to dialogue with international business people in identifying opportunities for exporting local products.
He said government officials should assist the local business community in finding chances for exporting local products.
"The local business community should hold talks with international companies participating the DITF to identify opportunities in their countries for exporting our local products," he said.
More than 2,900 local and international exhibitors are participating in the trade, with participating countries increasing to 33 from 30 recorded last year.
