TOKYO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Friday after Wall Street set a solid tone overnight and Chinese shares rallied despite rising international tensions as the U.S. implemented new tariffs.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 241.15 points, or 1.12 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 21,788.14.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 15.34 points, or 0.92 percent, higher to finish at 1,691.54.
Electric appliance, pharmaceutical and wholesale trade-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of day.
